At the Hamburg airport on the evening of Sunday, March 12, a warning strike of ground service employees began. It is expected that on March 13, all 123 scheduled departures and at least 50 of the planned 121 landings will be canceled at the airport, many flights will be delayed.
The strike, in which the Ver.di union called on about 2,000 airport employees, will last until the evening of March 13, Deutsche Welle reports.
On the morning of March 13, employees of the Hannover airport and the Berlin air harbor BER also joined their Hamburg colleagues.
The Ver.di trade union is demanding a 10.5% increase and at least 500 euros per month in the salaries of public service employees at the federal and communal levels. In turn, employers propose to carry out a gradual increase in salaries by 5% in two stages and provide one-time payments to employees in the amount of 2,500 euros.
The third stage of negotiations between the parties is to be held in Potsdam from 27 to 29 March.
