Microsoft Surface event 2022 – Here’s everything to know

Microsoft held its most awaited Surface event on Oct 12, 2022. It unveiled a wide range of Surface devices, including the new Surface tablet and laptop.

Surface Pro 9 is a touch-owned tablet that lets users easily switch from laptop to tablet and vice-versa. Earlier this year, Microsoft released two versions of the Surface Pro 9, one with the 12th Gen Intel Core processor and Microsoft’s SQ3 Processor. The firm has partnered with Qualcomm to design the device and also have brought 5G connectivity to the device.

The model comes with 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB RAM but the 5G variant comes with 8GB or 32GB RAM configurations.

Microsoft’s battery backup lasts up to 15.5 hours. The Intel-powered Surface Pro 9 comes with two USB-C ports with support for thunderbolt 4.

Surface Laptop 5
The new Surface Laptop 5 comes with a 12th Gen Intel Core processor, and Microsoft also said that Surface Laptop 5 will provide all-day battery life. The laptop will be available in 13.5 or 15-inch options, the smaller version is available in i5 or i7 variants.

Moreover, the models will be available in 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The Surface Laptop 5 also offers one USB-C port with support for Thunderbolt 4. When it comes to battery, the 13.5-inch variant lasts up to 18 hours, whereas the 15-inch lasts up to 17 hours.

Surface Studio 2++
Surface Studio 2+ is an all-in-one PC that can easily handle heavy workloads. Surface Studio 2+ has a 28-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 4500 x 3000. It also has an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and is backed by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 laptop version. It also comes with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Surface Studio 2+ comes with three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt support.

Other key announcements
Apart from the Surface devices, Microsoft also made several key announcements:

  • Microsoft has introduced Adaptive Accessories like a customisable mouse, and Adaptive Hub that either connect wirelessly or via USB-C.
  • Microsoft also announced a new app named Designer. It is a tool for graphic designers powered by AI.
